Kifayti Snacks: Homemade Crispy potato chips

Last updated: October 20th, 2022

My Facebook and Instagram is all filled with delicious homemade food, all made during this Corona lockdown phase! It feels so nice more so, as people have taken it seriously and in their stride. Hopefully, we win against this monster soon and we get back to normal pace of life ASAP. So few interesting food and their wonderous snaps like chop, chips and other delicious snacks, intrigued me to try my hands with a few of them. But that beautiful capsicum chop cannot be made now as my pantry is running out of Besan. If you know any substitute do let me know please. Now, there is one more option – to make Homemade Crispy potato chips like our very own Uncle Chips 😀. Irony is that inspite of thinking so many times of making it, I never had the opportunity to actually try my hands at it. Now after I finished my work from home, I sat with the potatoes to make Homemade Crispy potato chips. I was already tired, and dear hubby pulled out the blades of our Chopper – slicer Box and made the slices. And you know the recipe is that easy……… Still just letting you know the recipe that you already know but with a few details to make Homemade Crispy potato chips as perfect as possible!

Time required to make Homemade Crispy potato chips: 15 minutes

Ingredients to make Homemade Crispy potato chips for 3 people:

  • 3 big potatoes
  • Salt to taste
  • Cold water
  • Any refined lo-absorb oil

Homemade Crispy potato chips – The recipe:

  • Wash the potatoes thoroughly in water
  • Peel the skin off
  • Make thin slices of the potatoes preferably with the help of a slicer
  • Transfer the slices of potatoes in cold water and keep them back in freezer for 30 minutes
  • Now, take them out of the freezer
  • Wash them in cold water if possible
  • Drain excess water and let them Pat dry with the help of kitchen towels
  • Now, for deep frying, heat enough oil in Wok
  • Add some salt to the oil
  • Drop in those potato slices in batches
  • Fry them till they are golden. Don’t over fry them or make them reddish brown as those will impart a bit of bitterness to the chips
  • Take those chips out on paper napkins, let them cool off a bit, meanwhile they become crispy
  • Once they are back to room temperature, store the Homemade Crispy potato chips in airtight containers

You can sprinkle some salt on those and serve them as evening snacks. Or you can have them with Dal, rice in your meals.
