Mushroom masala recipe

Mushrooms are essentially vegetables and is quite popular in human diet since ages. It can be cooked in several ways. I am going to share the Mushroom masala recipe here. As like other recipes of mine, I always, try to simplify the preparation of a dish, this Mushroom masala recipe is not an exception and can be cooked in 30 minutes. Let’s check the Mushroom masala recipe.

Mushroom masala recipe cooking time: 30 minutes

Mushroom masala recipe Ingredients for 2 people:

  1. Mushroom: 200 gms
  2. 1 big onion
  3.  7 – 8 garlic cloves
  4. Small piece of ginger
  5. 1 tsp of salt (as per taste)
  6. 1 tomato
  7. 1 kashmiri mirch – whole
  8. 1/2 tsp chilly powder or as per taste
  9. 1 tsp cumin powder
  10. 1 tsp coriander powder
  11. 1 tbsp shahi garam masala  powder (here I have used a powder of nutmeg, mace, cardamom, cinnamon, white pepper, white cumin, black pepper, black cumin, kashmiri mirch)
  12. 1 tsp turmeric powder
  13. 1/4 th cup of whole cashew nut or kaju badam
  14. Fresh cream ( optional )
  15. Butter lite or oil or both – 1 tbsp (I have made it with less oil as anyways, I will add fresh cream and cashew which are fattening already)
  16. 1 tsp kasuri methi or dry crushed fenugreek leaves
  17. Bay leaf or taj patta
  18. 1 kashmiri mirch

Mushroom masala recipe – The method:

  1. First boil the mushrooms for 3-4 minutes. Wash in cold water and keep aside. Cut each of the mushrooms into 2 halves
  2. Make a paste of cashew nuts
  3. Make a paste of onion, garlic, ginger, tomato and kashmiri mirch
  4. Make a paste of turmeric, cumin, coriander, red chilly,  shahi garam masala powder
  5. Heat butter and a little oil (1 tbsp + 1 tsp) in a non-stick pan and drop a bay leaf
  6. Pour the onion paste and fry till oil separates
  7. Add masala and stir
  8. Add the mushrooms and stir till all the masala are coated around mushrooms
  9. Add 1 cup of water and cover cook till moisture evaporates
  10. Add 1 cup of water and cover cook for 2 minutes. Now add cashew paste and cover cook for sometime till water evaporates mostly
  11. Add 2 cups of water and cover cook until mushrooms are soft and the desired consistency of the Mushroom masala is achieved
  12. Now add kasuri methi and simmer for 2 minutes
  13. Switch off the flame and put fresh cream and stir. Cover with a lid and let it rest for sometime

Open the lid and serve  the tasty Mushroom masala out of the  simple Mushroom masala recipe with roti or rice!
