Vanilla fruit custard

To name a dessert that is yummy yet easy to make is custard! Though custard can be of different flavours like mango, strawberry, banana, the most popular one based on liking and availability in markets is vanilla.

Total preparation time for making Vanilla fruit custard: 15 mins + 2 hrs (setting)

Ingredients to make Vanilla fruit custard for serving 3 people:

         1. Milk  –  500 ml

2. Vanilla Custard powder from Polson/Weikfields or any brand available – 3 tsp (follow directions on cartons)

3. Sugar – 1/2 cup (as per level of sweetness desired)

4. Dry fruits like Raisins, cashews

5. Fresh fruits like pomegranate and kiwi for garnishing

 Vanilla fruit custard Recipe:

1. Boil 400 ml milk and then simmer

2. Take the rest 100 ml and dissolve custard powder in it such that no lump is present in it. The custard mix is ready

3. Add sugar to the boiled milk and stir to dissolve
4. Pour in custard mix slowly while continuously stirring into the simmering milk such that no lumps are formed
5. Adjust the flame and cook till the right consistency is achieved (it should be free flowing)
6. Switch off the flame and let it cool
7. Add dry fruits and mix well
8. Pour into custard bowls or any glass bowl. Garnish with pomegranate and kiwi and put them in the refrigerator for 2-3 hours to set
Your dessert is ready to serve chilled!
